Belkin International Inc., a pioneer in consumer electronics
and networking, has divulged a revolutionary iPhone dock with groundbreaking tracking capabilities. The device,
referred to as Belkin Stand Pro, presents a paradigm shift in user interaction by intuitively following user
movements through the implementation of a motor.
What Transpired: Citing a report by The Verge, Belkin is set to unleash
Stand Pro, a motorized iPhone dock. Retailing at $179.99, it leverages Apple Inc.’s AAPL DockKit framework,
heralding a pioneering feat as the inaugural device to do so, obviating the need for an intermediary app.
The Stand Pro features a 360-degree rotating cylindrical base and a MagSafe-equipped motorized
arm with a 90-degree range of movement.
When an iPhone 12 or newer model is attached, the dock seamlessly pairs with the device
using Near Field Communication (NFC), autonomously adjusting the iPhone’s position to keep the user or subject
in the frame during video calls or filming.
In addition to its tracking capabilities, the Stand Pro also provides support for up to
15W wireless fast charging when connected to the included USB-C cable and 30W power supply.
Furthermore, it offers the option for battery power, furnishing approximately five hours
of usage on a single charge.
Significance: The Stand Pro’s integration of Apple’s DockKit framework signifies
a pivotal milestone in the consumer technology domain. Despite the availability of more cost-effective motorized
stands in the market, the Stand Pro distinguishes itself as the pioneer to leverage this framework.
In conjunction with the Stand Pro, Belkin also announced an overhauled edition of its BoostCharge
Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Stand alongside a new Qi2-enabled BoostCharge Pro Magnetic Power Bank. While no confirmation
has been furnished regarding the availability of the Stand Pro, the other products are anticipated to hit the
market in March, as per the report.
