Tuesday Sector Laggards: Services, Technology & Communications

In afternoon trading on Tuesday, Services stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 0.7% loss. Within that group, Warner Bros Discovery Inc (Symbol: WBD) and Las Vegas Sands Corp (Symbol: LVS) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 2.9% and 2.6%, respectively. Among the largest ETFs, one ETF closely following services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (Symbol: IYC), which is down 1.2% on the day, and up 0.16% year-to-date. Warner Bros Discovery Inc, meanwhile, is down 0.56% year-to-date, and Las Vegas Sands Corp, is down 3.42% year-to-date. Combined, WBD and LVS make up approximately 0.7% of the underlying holdings of IYC.

The next worst performing sector is the Technology & Communications sector, showing a 0.5% loss. Among large Technology & Communications stocks, Palantir Technologies Inc (Symbol: PLTR) and NVIDIA Corp (Symbol: NVDA) are the most notable, showing a loss of 6.7% and 4.8%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Technology & Communications stocks is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK), which is down 1.4% in midday trading, and up 1.19% on a year-to-date basis. Palantir Technologies Inc, meanwhile, is down 6.37% year-to-date, and NVIDIA Corp is up 5.92% year-to-date. Combined, PLTR and NVDA make up approximately 16.1% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
