Revolutionary Green Initiative

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. recently unveiled a groundbreaking achievement in the renewable energy sector. Their latest renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility, located at Ash Grove Dairy in Lake Benton, MN, has commenced injecting pipeline quality RNG into the interstate natural gas pipeline grid. This leap in technology will bolster supplies for Clean Energy’s commercial transportation fleet customers. At full capacity, the facility is projected to churn out an impressive 480,000 gasoline gallon equivalent (GGEs) of negative carbon-intensity RNG each year.

Transforming Livestock Waste into Fuel

Nestled on a sprawling 55-acre site, Ash Grove Dairy, a vibrant multigenerational dairy farm, is now more than just a hub for dairy products. Home to over 2,000 milking cows, the facility is now playing a crucial role in sustainable energy production. The freestanding RNG production facility, equipped with a single digester, processes an astounding 60,000 gallons of manure daily. By capturing and converting harmful methane emissions, the facility is set to churn out an estimated 165 MMBtus of RNG daily, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preventing environmental harm.

Impressive Investment in Sustainability

The monumental project, valued at $22 million, came to life through one of Clean Energy’s production joint ventures and was spearheaded by Dynamic Renewables. After successfully clearing gas testing benchmarks, the facility is now officially producing high-quality RNG ready for use. Clean Energy has initiated the application process to secure federal and state environmental credits, further solidifying their commitment to promoting sustainable, eco-friendly practices in the energy sector.

Pioneering a Green Energy Movement

Clay Corbus, senior vice president at Clean Energy, expressed elation over the completion of the Ash Grove facility, marking the fifth RNG production site to come online in the past nine months. As the demand for RNG skyrockets and fleets recognize the immediate benefits of cleaner fuel alternatives, the RNG produced at Ash Grove is poised to make a significant impact on carbon emissions reduction across the nation. By addressing key sectors like agriculture and transport, Clean Energy is actively contributing to lowering GHG emissions and fostering a greener, more sustainable future.
